Service Description

What is a SkinCeuticals Facial? This is a personalised professional skin treatment using SkinCeuticals products. Depending on your assessment, it may include cleansing, preparation and a clinician-selected superficial chemical peel using ingredients such as glycolic, lactic or salicylic acid. The exact products and strength vary by skin and concern. What may it help with? A professional facial or superficial peel may improve the appearance of dullness, congestion, uneven texture, superficial pigmentation and selected mild acne-related concerns. It cannot treat every cause of acne or pigmentation, remove deep scars or stop skin ageing. How does it work? A chemical peel applies a controlled acidic solution to exfoliate part of the skin surface. The depth and response depend on the formulation, concentration, application time and individual skin. Stronger is not automatically better, and treatment must be selected carefully. Suitability A consultation is required to review skin type, active conditions, allergies, medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding, recent tanning, isotretinoin history, cold sores and recent procedures. Treatment may be postponed or modified for irritated, infected or recently treated skin. It is not automatically suitable for every skin type. Treatment and recovery The skin is cleansed and prepared before the selected products are applied. Tingling, warmth or stinging may occur. Temporary redness, tightness, dryness, sensitivity, darkening of pigment and visible peeling can occur over the following days. Recovery varies with peel type and skin response. Risks and limitations Risks include prolonged irritation, burns, pigment becoming lighter or darker, infection, cold-sore reactivation and scarring. Results vary and a course may be recommended, but treatment intervals must be individualised rather than fixed universally at two weeks. Aftercare Use gentle cleanser and moisturiser, daily broad-spectrum SPF and any products advised by your clinician. Do not pick peeling skin. Avoid tanning, waxing, retinoids, exfoliating acids and other strong active products until advised. Contact the clinic for blistering, marked swelling, increasing pain or an unexpected reaction. Book a consultation Arrange a skincare consultation at Esteem Life in Glasgow to select the appropriate SkinCeuticals facial or peel for your skin.
