What is LipoLas? LipoLas is a minimally invasive laser-assisted body-contouring procedure. A fine laser fibre is introduced beneath the skin through a small access point to treat selected localised fat and deliver controlled heat to the surrounding tissue. The precise method, including whether fat aspiration is appropriate, is determined during consultation. What may it help with? LipoLas may be considered for selected areas of localised fat and skin laxity, including under-chin concerns, where diet and exercise alone may not change the contour. It is not a weight-loss treatment and cannot guarantee a particular shape, weight reduction or degree of skin tightening. How does it work? Laser energy is delivered within the treated tissue to assist disruption of fat and create a controlled thermal effect. Fat may be removed according to the agreed clinical plan. Healing and collagen remodelling continue over time, so the final outcome is not immediate. Suitability The consultation includes assessment of the treatment area, skin quality, medical history, medicines, previous procedures and goals. LipoLas will not be suitable for everyone. Another treatment, surgery, weight-management support or no procedure may be recommended. Procedure and recovery The clinician will explain the planned anaesthesia, access points, treatment extent and whether aspiration is included. Swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, numbness and temporary fluid leakage can occur. Activity restrictions, dressings and a compression garment may be advised. Recovery varies by area and treatment extent. Risks and limitations Risks include bleeding, infection, burns, delayed healing, contour irregularity, asymmetry, seroma or fluid collection, altered sensation, pigment change, visible scarring and an unsatisfactory or incomplete result. Further treatment may be required. Rare but serious complications will be discussed as part of formal consent. Aftercare Follow all dressing, compression, medication and activity instructions. Avoid rubbing or massaging the area unless advised.
