What is an anti-wrinkle consultation? This appointment assesses expression-related lines caused by repeated muscle movement, commonly involving the forehead, frown area or outer eye area. A prescription-only injectable treatment may be considered, but it can only be offered after an appropriate consultation and individual prescription. No prescription medicine or brand is promoted or guaranteed by this booking page. What may treatment help with? If prescribed, treatment may temporarily soften selected dynamic lines by reducing the activity of specific muscles. It will not remove every line, improve lines caused mainly by skin texture or volume loss, stop ageing or guarantee a particular appearance. Natural facial asymmetry remains. Suitability and prescribing The prescriber will assess facial movement and anatomy and review medicines, allergies, previous treatment, pregnancy or breastfeeding, infection, swallowing problems and neuromuscular conditions. Treatment may be declined, delayed or scheduled separately; booking does not guarantee a prescription or same-day treatment. How does treatment work? If clinically appropriate and prescribed, small injections are placed into selected muscles. Effects develop gradually, are temporary and wear off. Dose, placement, response and duration vary between patients, and repeat treatment is not automatically appropriate. Treatment and recovery Discomfort, pinpoint bleeding, redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness or headache can occur. Most people resume normal activity quickly, but downtime and visible marks vary. Follow-up timing will be explained by the prescriber. Risks and limitations Risks include asymmetry, an unwanted change in expression, eyebrow or eyelid drooping, dry eye, watering, headache, local weakness and an unsatisfactory or short-lived result. Unintended weakness of nearby muscles can occur. Rarely, swallowing, speech or breathing problems, more generalised weakness or a serious allergic reaction may develop. Aftercare and urgent symptoms Follow the prescriber’s instructions and do not rub or manipulate treated areas unless advised. Contact the clinic for significant drooping, unexpected weakness or another concerning reaction. Difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing, widespread weakness or a severe allergic reaction requires urgent medical help.
